Zinfandel Lovers Duo
The 2014 Old Vine Zinfandel, Mendocino grapes were sourced from Hawkeye Vineyard in Mendocino County. The wine opens with aromas dominated by dried cranberry, forest floor, and cinnamon spice. The palate offers a lovely core of cherry, cranberry, balanced acidity and “classic” spice associated with Zinfandel. The finish is supple with just enough tannin structure. This is a food friendly wine. Aged exclusively in American oak barrels. The 2014 Zinfandel, El Dorado is pleasing on the eye with a deep ruby core color and a hints of purple on the edges. The nose starts out with a distinct smell of chocolate covered maraschino cherries, which leads into notes of strawberry preserves, vanilla extract, and caramel. The cherry from the nose translates to the broad palate and exhibits a beautiful and rich note of cherries jubilee. This wine exhibits a solid and wide core on the palate that continues through the lingering finish. The finish on this Zinfandel is classic yet complex, exhibiting classic briar, a hint of tobacco, and a pinch of delicious chocolate mocha.
