The Semillon hits the nose with minerality right off the bat while the Sauvignon Blanc brings brightness and a touch of fruit aroma. The palate opens with beautiful kiwi and grapefruit then moves into the vanilla and spice notes from the barrel. The wine rounds out with a creamy mouth feel and slight touch of lemon pudding leading into the long, brilliant finish.
This wine is 100% barrel fermented in 60% new Russian oak. The barrel adds color, flavor, sugar, and aromatics of spice, vanilla, and toast. The barrels also build a fuller and creamier structure, and lengthen the finish considerably. This extremely tight grained Russian oak is perfect for our Psalms program.
The Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Lambentz vineyard located in Pope Valley just east of Howell Mountain. The fruit is consistently bright and beautiful. The Semillon comes from a valley floor vineyard in Yountville. This Semillon vineyard brings beautiful minerality and body to the Semillon to create a perfect balance in this Psalms blend.
The 2012 vintage was a marvelous one. The elements all aligned to create a nearly perfect environment in Napa and Northern California. The wines of 2012 are packed with concentrated fruit flavors while being balanced and layered in complexity.
