The Trinitas 2012 Chardonnay is from the Los Carneros appellation of the Napa Valley. Barrel aging in American oak lends to aromas of hickory , crème brulee and cotton candy. Secondary fermentation creates a mid-palate with rich flavors of creamy butter and caramel. Lemon curd and Charred Pineapple sing with a juicy explosion.
Chardonnay from the Carneros region ranks among the finest in California. Due to its ideal location along the San Pablo Bay, the Carneros appellation is recognized for producing grapes of great intensity, balance and natural acidity. Cool, foggy mornings and moderately warm days provide the perfect growing conditions.
The 2012 vintage will be one to remember, and reminds Napa vintners of some of the very best vintages of the past few decades. A mild spring led to a good fruit set. Summer and fall brought warm temperatures, but no heat spikes. All of the fruit enjoyed a long, slow ripening, driving more intense fruit flavors and complexity. These wines will be full bodied but tannins are soft and supple. The colors are vibrant and rich for whites, and nearly inky black for reds. Overall a fantastic vintage.
