2010 Pinot Noir
The aroma draws you in with toast and caramel dipped apple notes, which progress into scents of cherry cola, cedar box, tobacco, mocha, and black tea. The palate is rich and round in the mouth and quite full for a Pinot. The flavors are heavily influenced by cola berry and cherry which enhance the smoothness and drinkability of the wine.
The grapes were optically sorted to the highest degree of quality. The wine saw 35% new French oak for 14 months, which adds structure and weight to the palate, while accentuating the natural red fruit. The barrels add spice, vanilla, mocha, and espresso to the aromatics. This wine is open top fermented punched down 4 times daily.
Our 2010 Pinot Noir was grown in the rolling hills of Carneros. The vineyard yielded equal parts 667, 777, and 115 Dijon Clones. Cool westerly winds move through the canopy conditioning the fruit and extending the hang time to maximize ripeness as well as create intense color and weight.
The 2010 Vintage was long and cool and was noted by most as a very advantageous vintage for Northern California. The vintage kept the brix in check while fruit flavors and esters matured.
